Dear Crew of the USS Tom Clancy,
On Twitter the other day I inquired about a book club, and the response was strong, so this is announcement for the first Hunt for Tom Clancy Book Club — unilaterally, I have selected the volume (which I have not yet read)
This is a book I encountered at Woodberry Forest School—Frank Wisner’s high school alma mater in Orange, Virginia—when I went to visit while researching my Master’s Thesis, about another WFS alum named Duncan Lee, a descendent of Robert E. Lee, personal aide to General William Donovan at the Office of Strategic Services, and Soviet Spy—one who somehow evaded prosecution.
The book?
A Very Principled Boy by Mark A Bradley.
Today is the 9th of July, it takes a little while for people to acquire and read a book, so let’s say we’ll come back together on the 9th of August for a book club discussion.
You can purchase the book here from one of the most evil people on earth, Jeff Bezos, who will give me a small cut of the purchase price, or check it out from your local library, but I’ll plan to do something live where we can discuss the book, the early OSS, the influence of WFS, or anything else your hearts desire.
Also, if you would like to become a paid subscriber to The Hunt for Tom Clancy, I would sure appreciate that. I’m about to get back on the road and then back to writing, and I have a series coming up for The Hunt for Tom Clancy based on original reporting that will blow your mind—you can expect that in the next month or so.
Thanks again for reading, and for making this fun. Until next time!
